Graham was regularly seen but not heard on the famous show throughout the 80s and 90s and was given his nickname by the late Cilla Black.

From 1993 to 2002 he also did the voice over for Vic and Bob's Shooting Stars – and while he had multiple other credits including in TV series Drummonds and Songs for the Times, his most famous stint remains Blind Date.

He was dropped from the series in 2002 after 17 years as part of the programme's revamp to halt sliding ratings, but only lasted an extra year.

However the show did return years later with Paul O'Grady and Melanie Sykes from 2017 to 2019.

Many fans will remember Graham as a vital part of the show, but away from his lengthy stint on the gameshow, he focused on his family, which includes his three children and his five grandchildren.

Graham sadly died on December 27 2021, but the news of his passing has only just been confirmed.

Graham had vascular dementia in his last 10 years and spent his final years living in Kent.

His son Neil told the publication that he "loved" having a recognised voice. He added: "I do event organising and had a show in London and got dad to do the voice over. People recognised him straight away."

His daughter Catherine Johnson said that Graham was told to try out to musicals after spending time in the National Service and later going into engineering and singing as a hobby.

From that, he got into Blind Date and then Shooting Stars.

The family are not the only ones who have been quick to share sweet tributes to the famous voiceman.

One user wrote: "RIP Graham Skidmore, reuniting with Cilla Black for some heavenly Blind Date episodes."

Another said: "Just heard the news of Graham Skidmore, so sad. RIP."
