Lucifer will be returning for its sixth and final season on Netflix in the near future. However, fans are slightly concerned about what changes will be made to the show following the introduction of filming restrictions due to coronavirus COVID-19. Here’s what co-showrunner Joe Henderson revealed about this.
Will Deckerstar romance scenes be cut amid filming restrictions?
The sixth season of Lucifer has been filming since early October in Los Angeles as the series comes to its final end.
However, there have been some big changes thanks to the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19.
This means there are several restrictions in place on set to keep the cast and crew safe.
Something viewers might be concerned about however is what this means for the future of Chloe Decker (played by Lauren German) and Lucifer Morningstar’s (Tom Ellis) romance on the show.
In particular, some will be wondering if the kissing and romance scenes between the pair will have to be cut.
Co-showrunner Joe Henderson recently gave an update on this during a Q&A for Baltimore Comic-Con.
When asked about how filming has changed, he revealed they have made some storyline alterations to account for restrictions.
He said: “It’s really helpful for people to see how safe we’re trying to keep the crew, how safe we’re trying to keep the cast.
“Listen, we love our show. The show is the second most important thing behind the safety of everyone involved in it.
“And the challenge for us as creatives is how to not sacrifice story for safety and it’s actually been really awesome.
“It’s forced us to dig deeper into simpler scenes, more emotionally resonant scenes and just find ways to find truths in a different way.
“Are we going to have less fight scenes this season? Yes. Are we going to have more moments that break your heart? Yes.

“So there’s going to be a trade-off on things but I don’t think people are going to mind.
“I think if anything, it seems more fitting for the end season. We are going to wrap up stories.”
Of course, he didn’t confirm whether the romance scenes themselves will be cut.
But given they require close contact like the fighting scenes do, they could be impacted.
At the same time, given their importance to the story, it is unlikely they will be cut completely.
Viewers will just have to wait and see what this means for the beloved couple at the heart of the series.
Before season six lands on Netflix, there are still eight more episodes of series five on their way.
Filming has finished on season five, part B and it is hoped Netflix will announce the official release date soon.
Lucifer season 5, part A is available to stream on Netflix now.
