Back in December Peter turned to booze again when he found out his partner Carla Connor had slept with his nephew Adam Barlow behind his back.
Next week, after finding out his condition hasn't improved, Peter's brother Daniel Osbourne offers to be his liver donor, but the Rovers Return landlord isn't happy with his offer.
Peter decides to take things one step further and creates an ‘Advance Decision to Refuse Treatment’ declaration with the help of Adam so that he can die when his body gives up.
The actor recently explained his thought process behind the decision and said: "His mind is made up. He has pressed the self-destruct button. He genuinely does not feel he is worthy of treatment.
"He knows that Ken is upset but he lies to him and tells him he is at a meeting to get him off the scent. But he is still drinking even though he knows it will kill him."
And things are about to get a whole lot worse for Peter in coming weeks.
Carla's worries start to increase as Peter's behaviour spirals out of control as she finds him drinking alone at the pub.
She desperately pleads with him to stop drinking, but an angry Peter throws a glass in her face.
Shocked by his behaviour, landlady Jenny decides that the best thing for Peter is to move out of the pub so that he's not surrounded by drink.
Peter takes his bottle and drowns his sorrows out on the streets and is found passed out by Steve.
The cab driver takes him to dad Ken's and Dr Gaddas tells the worried family that he's got hypothermia.
Will Peter decide to take up Daniel's offer or contiue to self-sabbotage?
