Coronation Street fans were left in tears on Wednesday's episode as Roy Cropper left the ITV soap in emotional scenes.
Only recently, Roy has been feeling upset by his unwitting role in the death of Natasha Blakeman as the gun used to kill her was the same firearm purchased by Abi Franklin to shoot Corey Brent.
Things got worse when a terrified Abi learnt that the police can identify the gun used to shoot Natasha and Roy advised her to come clean about how she got her hands on it, but when the police arrived he again had to lie to cover for Abi.
And when Roy asked Adam Barlow to sign the cafe over to Nina Lucas and for Abi to sell his beloved car, Nina worried that Roy was planning to take his own life.
However, Nina was soon left stunned when Roy announced that he was leaving the cobbles, moving to South America to work as a chef.
Nina refused to let Roy leave as she arranged for Weatherfield's residents to tell him how much he meant to them and to persuade him to change his mind.
However, despite the gesture, Roy still attempted to leave later that night where was disturbed by Nina as she again tried to make him stay.
After explaining his reasons once again and pointing out that she always has a roof over her head, as well as money coming in, he asked if he could leave.
A sobbing Nina said: "Please don’t do this to me Roy! You’re the one person in the world who I trust, and I love you!"
However, Roy still left the cobbles with his final heartbreaking scenes seeing him leave in a taxi as he took one final glimpse at the cobbles.
Coronation Street fans were left in tears over the scenes as they took to Twitter to share their heartbreak over Roy leaving.
One person said: "Roy can't leave," followed by crying emojis.
A different devastated account put: "Never watching Corrie again. I need Roy in my life #Corrie."
