Gary Neville’s awful pre-season Premier League predictions revealed including Man Utd coming third and Lukaku top scorer

GARY NEVILLE has been left red-faced after his pre-season Premier League predictions resurfaced on social media.

The Manchester United legend reckoned the Red Devils were going to finish THIRD in the table.

But in actual fact United have already guaranteed a worst-ever Premier League points total, and the best Ralf Rangnick's flops can end up is sixth.

But despite Neville getting that particular prediction horribly wrong, it's arguably not even his worst guess on the list.

Neville did have Manchester City down to be champions and Chelsea and Liverpool to finish in the top four, but that's about as far as he got in terms of success.

The 47-year-old also tipped Romelu Lukaku to win the Prem golden boot.

That accolade looks like it's going to Mohamed Salah or Son Heung-Min, with the pair on 22 goals and 21 goals respectively.

Lukaku meanwhile has managed just a measly eight Prem strikes since his club record £97.5million move from Inter Milan.

The 28-year-old has endured a turbulent season on and off the pitch, even blasting his own agent in recent days over claims he could leave Chelsea.

Elsewhere Neville had Everton down as league overachievers.

That one could be the worse of the lot, with the Toffees still staring down the barrel of relegation.

Frank Lampard's side are just two point clear of the drop zone with three games left to play, which couldn't be further away from overachieving.

Finally Neville reckoned Arsenal would be the underachievers of the season.

You could say that one hinges on the result over the next two weekends.

Champions League qualification is still in the Gunners' hands meaning they could prove Neville wrong.

But if they do squander a return to Europe's elite competition for the first time since 2016/17 then Neville can claim that prediction as correct.

Jamie Carragher meanwhile was spot on with many of his predictions.

The Liverpool hero had Man City as title winners, Brighton as overachievers, Manchester United as underachievers and Salah as top scorer.
